Having completed his undergraduate medical education at Sultan Qaboos University, Dr. Al-Abri then moved on to successfully complete a 5-year ophthalmology residency training program at McGill University in Montreal, Canada followed by 2-years advanced fellowship training in medical retina & vitreoretinal surgeries at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Al-Abri returned to Oman in the summer of 2010 where he rejoined the department of ophthalmology at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital as a consultant and was shortly promoted to Sr. consultant ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon. Dr. Al-Abri was awarded Ophthalmology specialty and fellowship certificates from The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. In addition to clinical qualification, Dr. Al-Abri is a holder of a number of certificates in leadership and medical education from Maastricht University, Netherlands. He is a faculty in the ophthalmology residency program since 2010 and the director of the ophthalmology residency program at Oman Medical Specialty Board since 2014. Dr. Al-Abri received several awards and recognitions and he has actively participation in several national, regional and international scientific conferences, workshops, and courses. He is also involved in clinical studies as his specialty and has had several publications during his career. Dr. Al-Abri is an active member of several national, regional, and international societies and committees.
