Having completed his undergraduate medical education at Sultan Qaboos University, Dr. Al-Abri then moved on to successfully complete a 5-year ophthalmology residency training program at McGill University in Montreal, Canada followed by 2-years advanced fellowship training in medical retina & vitreo-retinal surgeries at University of Ottawa Eye Institute in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Al-Abri, returned to Oman in summer of 2010 where he rejoined the department of ophthalmology at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital as a consultant and shortly promoted to Sr. consultant ophthalmologist and vitreo-retinal surgeon. Dr Al-Abri was awarded Ophthalmology specialty and fellowship certificates from The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. In addition to clinical qualification, Dr. Al-Abri is a holder of number of certificates in leadership and medical education from Maastricht University, Netherlands. He is a faculty in the ophthalmology residency program since 2010 and the director of ophthalmology residency program at Oman Medical Specialty Board since 2014. Dr. Al-Abri received several awards and recognitions and he has active participations in several national, regional and international scientific conferences, workshops and courses. He is also involved in clinical studies is his specialty and has several publications during his career. Dr. Al-Abri is an active member in several national, regional and international societies and committees.
