Dr. Ahmed Al Maskari
OPHTHALMOLOGY - Cornea, Cataract & Reflective Surgery
Having completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Manchester, UK, Dr. Ahmed Al-Maskari then moved on to successfully complete a 6-year ophthalmology residency training program in Yorkshire, UK followed by advanced subspecialist training in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery at St.James’ University Hospital in Leeds, UK. He then undertook two more fellowships in cornea and external eye diseases at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London learning from top leaders in his field. Dr. Ahmed then worked as a consultant cataract and cornea surgeon from 2016 to 2017 at the Royal Liverpool Hospital before returning to Oman as a consultant ophthalmologist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. Dr. Ahmed Al-Maskari was awarded a CCST certificate from the general medical council in the UK and is a fellow of the royal college of ophthalmologists. He is also a holder of the certificate of laser refractive surgery. Dr. Ahmed is also a member of the European society for cataract and refractive surgeons. Dr. Ahmed is a faculty in the ophthalmology residency program at Oman Medical Specialty Board and the director of training and continuing professional development at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.
Dr. Ahmed participated as a clinical investigator in several clinical studies during his career including the first randomized controlled trial assessing femtosecond laser cataract surgery in the UK.
